JENNI TAPANILA

Finnish photographer living in Helsinki, she is a very controversial deviant artist. Her talent knows no boundaries as she seems to have dabbled in many forms of photography, and, without any formal training in the art, has managed to excell beyond the skill levels of many professionals. Her photography style and her way to “put on stage” is really very interesting. Jenni’s touch brings something personal in her photos that many can find too macabre or horrifying because of blood. But with Jenni we live images, we are not simply viewers.
Jenni, what/who inspires you ?
I am inspired by a lot of things, but usually ideas just appear in my head out of the blue. There are photographers like Bettina Rheims and Erwin Olaf though who have inspired me.
Tell us a little about your background
I'm just a girl. I have a cosmetologist degree and should have a BBA degree soon, so I haven't really studied photography and doubt that I ever will. I have been shooting more seriously for the past couple of years.
Who/what are you working for now ?
I work only for myself, minus occasional commission works. I find this to be the most pleasing way for me, I just want to do my thing :)
Do you have any new projects coming up ?
I don't really have any specific projects coming up, I kinda shoot as ideas and opportunities rise...
