ROBERT BILBIL

Tell us a little about your background....where are you from...?
I'm from Marseille France. I always remember making pictures. Even in my earliest days i was taken photos with my mother's 6x6 camera with no film inside. I loved watching life through the viewfinder. I really started making personnal pictures in San Francisco in the middle 80's where I lived for five years. I worked with a lot of local music bands and at the same time I worked with some model agencies. Punk, trash and no future was perfect for me at this time. I think a bit of this culture remains, even now,in my pictures. Maybe it's still no future, but it's just the present.
What/who inspires you ?
Inspiration can happen any time and anywhere. And sometimes nothing happens. It can take forever and a day, it's a bit scary for me. I think the real inspiration comes often from a very simple detail of the real life. And i just let my feelings go on.
Who/what are you working for now ?
Most of my work is fashion. I work for different fashion catalogues but i still take pictures everyday in the streets, in the night,in the bars everywhere. There are good pictures sometime and sometime there's nothing interesting it's like life.
Do you have any new projects coming up that you can tell us about ?
I am working on a exhibition with very big prints and a movie in the backround. It's about cannibalism between two girls. It's gonna be very trash and at the same time poetic.
Is there anyone particular you would like to work with ?
Yes...God if he has a window
How would you briefly describe your style ?
My style is like my vision of the world. Trash and glamour. I am divided by the disgust that a sick society inspires and the primeval beauty that each unique being carries.
